World of Nyrea

Map of Nyrea (Out of Game)

This is a post-apocalypse world. People are still trying to establish even the smallest of settlements, and these are far and few between. Hermits and loners are those that dwell on the very edge of a settlement because they could not survive for long if they were truly on their own. There are a few nomadic tribes, most commonly made up of Sundered. Otherwise, people tend to stay where they are unless there is a good reason to make them move.
With the above in mind, when someone looks at the map, they should remember that their character would only be familiar with whatever area that their character is from unless they have a good reason to be familiar with multiple areas (ask full-time staff). For this reason, many finer details were purposely left off the map and there are various other small rivers, streams, lakes, significantly large sinkholes, canyons and other geographical features that can be found throughout the world not shown on this map.

Again, only areas your character has crossed, seen, or may have heard stories of would be known. Everything else is unknown. This is more of an out-of-game reference for people making character backstories.

About the Map

-
Outpost Reliance is located far to the east (looks like a house)
-
The outpost sits on the shore of a saltwater lake, and to the west of the lake is a small freshwater swamp area.
-
Two day walk East is the ocean
-
The outpost is located within woodsy hills
-
Roughly a couple days to the northeast, over some hills and through some woods is a thick “enchanted” forest.
-
A small river runs from the mountains through the hills and woods, into the swamp next to outpost Reliance
-
-
Far to the north is frozen lands covered in hills, snow drifts, and evergreens
-
Mountains cover a small portion of the frozen lands and stretch to the south
-
-
Mountains run from the north, coming out of the frozen lands, stretching across all the lands and beyond, continuing into the ocean far to the south, the ocean would be just beyond the edge of the map.
-
Mountains are approximately a week + west of Outpost Reliance
-
Far off to the northwest of Reliance, somewhere within the mountains, is rumored to be a creepy necrotic land where undead who are trapped in this realm dwell (shown by a skull & crossbones icon).
-
There are a few small active volcanoes scattered throughout the mountain range
-
Woods grow about halfway up the east side of the mountains
-
Western side of the mountains are barren and at the western base is a strip of rocky wasteland
-
-
A strip of rocky wasteland runs down the middle of the map
-
East of the Wasteland is a mountain range
-
Where the wastelands and mountains meet, off the southern shores, approximately half a day out into the ocean is the Aetheri Islands (anchor and arrow to the south point to islands, but they’re not actually shown on the map).
-
West of the Wasteland becomes grassland that eventually becomes woods.
-
This strip of wasteland stretches far north to the frozen lands and stretches south to the ocean, which would be just beyond the edge of the map.
-
-
West of the Wasteland is a small strip of high grassland that becomes thick woods.
-
Only the most eastern edge of these woods have been mapped up to this point
-
To the northeast within these woods, bordering the Frozen Lands, is said to be a dark, thick forest, rumored to be an “Enchanted” forest.
-
-
South, approximately 2+ weeks, from Outpost Reliance is a large swamp

Only the northernmost edge of this swamp has been mapped

There are many rumors and stories of old true fey. Most believe they’re just stories and such creatures never existed that these stories are exaggerated by smaller fey. Some believe they were killed off either before or during the apocalypse. There are a few, whether paranoid, superstitious, or other reasons, believe these old fey still exist hidden in the darkest parts of the “Enchanted” forests. Regardless, if these stories are true or not, those who have entered these dark thick forests have found them to be some of the deadliest places in a world where it already seems everything is trying to kill them. (There are 3 forests shown on the map by unique-looking tree icons)
